You will need to jump start your vehicle if the battery goes dead in your car. It is important to carry a set of jumper cables along with you, incase the battery goes dead unexpectedly. This way, you can be prepared incase this occurs. You may start to notice some signs of the battery starting to go dead. If the vehicle is having issues starting or turning over, then the battery could be to blame. Besides a difficult start, you may also notice that the vehicle has an issue when idling, and may have a tendency to turn off.
Jump starting your car
The first step is to make sure that both vehicles are turned off. You will then want to connect the end of the positive jumper cable, which is red, to the positive terminal of the stalled out battery. Then connect the other end of the positive cable to the positive terminal of the good battery. You will then want to take the end of the black or negative cable, and attach it to the terminal of the good battery. Then attach the other end to an unpainted metal surface. If you were to connect that end to the battery instead, then there could be an explosion.
When the cables are on, you will want to start the vehicle that is currently working. This car should be running a couple minutes before trying to start the dead car. After that, make sure to remove the jumper cables in the reverse order that you put them on. Once the vehicle is up and running, you will want to continue to let it run for at least 30 minutes. This will help give the battery sufficient time to recharge. If you turn the vehicle off too soon after jump starting it, the battery could go dead again.
