Tow

When you tow a trailer for your next trip or vacation, there are several parts of your vehicle you should inspect. Make sure that you are aware of anything that is out of the norm as well for your vehicle. If there is an issue, always make sure to contact us about it. Ignoring the problem will only make it worse in the long run. This can result in a costly repair bill if it continues on. You can follow the recommended maintenance schedule based on the owner’s manual. Also, we can advise you when certain maintenance tasks should be done for it.

Tires should be inspected

The tires should be inspected for your vehicle as well. After hitting a bump or pothole, they will need to be inspected. Even if they look fine, they could have damage done to them. This can be damage to the sidewall of the tire, or even how the tire is aligned. It is important to check the alignment of the tires of your vehicle. The suspension of the vehicle can become damaged and no longer be effective at holding the frame together. If you notice the vehicle becoming uncomfortable when you drive, the suspension could be out. It is best if you bring the vehicle in so we can inspect it for you.

The overall electrical connections should be inspected as well. This will help to make sure that the lights are even connected to the trailer. When you apply the brakes, you will want the lights to illuminate on the trailer. Making sure the brake lights come on is important so that others will see that you have stopped. Same with when the blinkers come on. If you notice that the lights are not working correctly when hooking up the trailer, make sure to contact us.
